तथ्य एक (fact) ऐसा कथन है जो वास्तविकता के अनुकूल हो या जिसे साक्ष्य के प्रयोग द्वारा साबित करा जा सके। यानी किसी भी चीज को समझाने के स्पस्ट रूप से बताया जाए तथ्य की सच्चाई परखने के लिए उसके लिए प्रमाण प्रस्तुत करे जाते हैं यानी किसी भी चीज की सच्चाई बताने के लिए उसका सबूत देना पड़ता है जिनके लिए मान्य सन्दर्भों व स्रोतों का प्रयोग करा जाता है। वैज्ञानिक तथ्यों को ऐसे निरीक्षणों और मापन से प्रमाणित करा जाता है जिनकों ज्ञात प्रक्रियाओं द्वारा दोहराकर बार-बार भिन्न लोगों द्वारा परखा जा सके। मतलब एक ही चीज को बताने के लिए अलग अलग तरिका का इसतेमाल किया जाता हैं और तथ्य लोगो को किसी भी तरह के परीक्षण या ज्ञान को समझने में हैरानीयत का भाव पैदा करता है। तथ्य को सुनकर लोगो को किसी ज्ञान को जानने की अधिक इच्छा उत्पन्न होती है। यानी Fact का नाम सुनक एक अलग ही शक्ति उत्पन्न होती हैं यह एक ज्ञान को अलग प्रकार से समझाने का स्त्रोत है। तथ्य एक प्रकार का उत्सुकता से ज्ञान को समझने वाला शब्द है। यानी किसी भी भौगोलिक चीज को जानने की चाहत होती है।
